Color Analysis

Colors: Rooted in our instincts

Urbanista Image Consultant specializes in Color Analysis services - a service that helps you find colors that support your personality.

In nature, the things that we find most attractive are those that display fantastic colors. The variety of colors and shades beyond black and white mark many things as being healthy, ripe, attractive and desirable at an instinctual level.

Human beings are the only creatures on Earth that have learned to play down themselves by masking their true colors with "safe black" garments. Maybe we are afraid that by showing our true feelings we become vulnerable. Maybe we struggle to find the colors that consistently say what we want. Why? When it comes to talking we can do a good job, why is it that we struggle so hard when it comes to choosing color of clothing?

The language of colors

Color has a vocabulary of it's own, just like a conversation is based on language. However, a lot of us have not had any training in the language of color and so after making a few mistakes, we learn to stick to "safe", easy bets - black garments that hide our personality and limit the risk of us becoming disengaged. And yet how healthy would your lawn look if it were black? How ripe for the picking would a strawberry seem if it were white? Can you see how by cutting out the color, you simultaneously cut out all those values you hold so dear? To look vibrant is to draw people to us. To look healthy is to build your inner strength and this is just the tip of the spectrum.

How is Color Analysis important?

Colors range in intensity and undertone and we arrange them into palettes known as seasons. For example, if you say something like "I can't wear yellow", we'll probably agree and show you that certain 'yellows' will have undertones and hues that clash against the natural tones of your skin, eyes and personality. However, we will further show you how to use a varied tone of that yellow - warming it up, or cooling it down so that it suits you - so that you can open up a far wider range of color choices. When you wear colors that clash with your palette, the message given off is confusing and you don't look or feel right. In worse scenarios, people might even react oddly. When you wear colors that support you, the message you convey is harmonious and people feel a natural affinity towards you. It is simple and subtle, yet without expert guidance few people ever understand their colors correctly and so make bad purchases, look silly and wonder why they have to work twice as hard to get their message across.
